  Jolt GC Infantry Tournament ...   -   TechMage   -  22nd Jan 2005 00:04
Jolt GC Infantry Tournament comes to an end

It is with some regret that I announce that the first Jolt GC Infantry 4v4 Tournament has now come to an end.

Although very close (almost 50/50), a slight majority have voted not to continue. It was always going to be somewhat of a challenge as we were effectively creating a previously non-existent competitive clan community for GC, so the rapid formation of tournament focused squads by forum members, alpha testers and developers was impressive, to say the least.

Despite our best efforts to run it as smoothly as possible (and one week where we were at fault), there were some aspects that we simply had no control over, which understandably, caused frustration among the participants, not to mention ourselves. Given the amount of work we were putting in, coupled with squads leaving and dwindling attendance issues, this presented a situation not unlike "flogging a dead horse"; creating an inverse proportion to the desired result - that of a fun, thriving tournament.

So on behalf of Pyromedik, Jaded and myself, I'd like to offer our gratitude to Bigfoot and all at Jolt for accomodating the event and a big "thank you" to all of you who participated. We hope that you enjoyed the experience - during it's peak, you made it what it was.

  Week #6 Matches Postponed   -   Admin   -  05th Dec 2004 19:42
Apologies to all players, but this weeks matches will sadly have to be postponed due to technical difficulties with the Jolt-provided servers. We will endeavour to find out what the problem is and ensure it is rectified for week 6 matches to be played next week.

  WEEK 5 IS A GO   -   Admin   -  28th Nov 2004 19:24
Welcome to Week 5 Of The Tournament

Set atop a high mesa on Dantooine, two factions will battle it out for supremacy.

Week 5 brings us back to the beginning, and to the Mini-Dantooine setting.

PLEASE NOTE: The rule of no entering the opponents un-cappable flag area is still in effect. Those ignoring the restriction will forfeit the round. This pertains to BOTH un-cappable flags.

  Week Four Match Day   -   Admin   -  14th Nov 2004 14:51
Set atop a secret mountain Jedi training ground, Chandrilla Peaks plays host to this weeks matches. Four capturable flags and no way down should see some fierce fighting and some long falls today. Good luck to all the teams. Matches begin at the usual time. All players should meet in IRC 30 minutes prior to match start times.

>>> Important: WEEK #3 IS NOW VOID<<<

We regret to announce that due to administrative errors regarding the server settings for Caves of Dagobah, we are forced to make the difficult decision to nullify all the week #3 results. While we were addressing the issue at the time, some of you were approached with the option of individual rematches as a possible solution. We'd like to make it clear that this was merely an option we were exploring in an attempt to solve the situation fairly - now discarded in favour of the above, for a number of good reasons.

Three out of five matches were played without the twenty minute time limit while others had incorrect ticket ratios. As you may or may not understand, this leads to a contamination of the results, thus voiding the tournament as a whole.

In order to reset the tournament onto a level playing field again and enable all of you to continue to participate, we felt the only reasonable and fair solution is to discount all matches played for this week and continue next week with Chandrilla: noone wins, noone loses.

We can only apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you - this was our fault entirely - measures are being put in place to prevent a similar situation from arising again.

Running this tournament smoothly requires a fair amount of time, communication, organisation and actual work and despite our best efforts, sometimes things do manage to slip past us - so don't give us too hard a time (we've already had that from one person already) :-).

Please post any comments in the Forum - You'll see a message with the same title in there.
